light controller

i began to focus on electrical systems and simple machines in relation to the deconstructed photographic process - looking for relationships as to the origin of how we see, or how seeing is given. light always seemed to be the source, or a mechanism of control.

12v analog control 8-channel 120v relay lighting control system

the relay module is where I started, scavenging a 100amp bull switch enclosure, wiring 8 relay channels with 12v control, using standard plugs for signal in/power out. then came controllers. rotary controller for circular output, linear controller for linear output. sequencer to program the channels into simple chases.

three input controllers - rotary, linear, and sequencer

two outputs for the system - circular and linear

light controller allowed for experiments in sequencing and animation - moving points of light in relation to an object, instead of moving the object.

video documentation below

linear output - sequenced - test

rotary controller test - position selection

early sequencer design - hacked ford v8 distributor (thank you kip)

circular output - sequenced - event plane survey, sequenced point sources, volume - overhead camera
